Board Exam Time Management: A Subject-by-Subject Strategy

Finish every paper with time to spare
18 July 2026 by

Many students lose marks not because they do not know the answer, but because they run out of time. Smart time management, planned subject by subject, fixes that.

Before the exam: allot time per mark

Roughly one mark equals one to 1.5 minutes. Plan how long each section should take and stick to it in mock tests until it becomes a habit.

Maths & Science

Attempt the questions you are sure of first to bank easy marks. Leave lengthy proofs or derivations for after you have secured the short ones.

Languages & Humanities

Plan writing questions (essays, long answers) with a 2-minute outline before you write. Keep an eye on the clock so the last long answer is as complete as the first.

The last 15 minutes

Reserve time to review, complete any left answers and recheck calculations. Never leave anything blank.
